The Antirrhinum of the Church Mission Statement

You know I can’t help but look at the whole church mission statement thing and wonder how it all started. When did we as believers allow others to tell us what we believe and why we believe what it is that is written on our behalf. I think the whole thing started as a way to keep us insulated from finding the outrageous love that God offers each believer through faith in Jesus Christ. It is almost as if scripture is not enough for the religious zealot in all his artifice. Or maybe it is a way to draw others into a tradition of honoring doctrine before truth.

Either way it is deceptive by nature, our nature, the nature of believing a lie instead of truth. After all isn’t that how it all started in the Genesis narrative when man choose to believe a lie instead of God.

  • And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: - Genesis 3:4

So if churches have the ability to imitate each other in the mission statement and thereby create a platform to extol their so-called virtues by way of solitary doctrine. Why do we lack the ability to heed the Spirit of God and be perfectly united in mind and thought with and for each other in the glorifying of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ?

Is it perhaps that all are wrong, because;

  • No eye has seen
  • No ear has heard
  • No mind has conceived

What God has prepared for those that love Him…?

I have a vision in my mind of a levy that is leaking all over the world (I am one of the leaks) and the faux concern of church leadership as it keeps trying to stop the leaks. But they only have so many fingers. On the other side of the levy are people like me, like you, that are seeing God as love and wondering why others who say they are like us (Christians) don’t get it. Now what happens when you are on the other side of the levy with your finger in the hole and it breaks? Will you be able to stand and admit that you never knew Gods love and accept it for what it is? I believe you will because Gods love is beyond our comprehension it is so out of what we think it is, it covers a multitude of sins.

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
