Giving to the Needy...

Matthew 6:1-4

"Be careful not to do your 'acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

"So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

We live in a world that requires our acts of giving, kindness and good works to be recognized so that we can continue to try and get life through the world instead of from Jesus Christ.

Remember that Jesus said;

I am the WAY

the TRUTH

and the LIFE

No one comes to the Father except through me. - JOHN 14:6

Jesus also said;

'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

Consider; MATTHEW 25

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

I had come to the decision years ago that if I give to a charity etc. I wouldn't claim it on my taxes or in any other way seek compensation or recognition. That particular verse was what drove me to that decision.
