The Narrow Road...

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it".

Those are the words found in the verse's at Matthew 7:13-14 NIV this passage relates to our inherent attitudes towards money, material possessions and our love or lack there of. Allow me to expand; love is the driving force of the Christian experience and a professed Christian's identity must mirror God's love in all that we do.

For example if we give a tithe on a weekly/monthly basis and we do it not out of love you may as well keep the dough and put it in a hedge fund or other growth vehicle because at least that could benefit you or your family later on. Remember what Albert Einstein said “The most powerful force in the universe is compound interest” and although compound interest is powerful I would think that the creator of the universe is much more powerful even then compounding interest.

Let us suppose that all we do, we do out of love for our brethren and that would include; the all of mankind. Let us also suppose that God compounds those things we do and gives us our reward in heaven not on earth. Would that not preclude the fact then some of us may struggle financially while some of us will have more than they need. Also consider that economics is a very tricky and specialized topic. And that this world will devise every possible way to get you to pay more than you should for just about everything you need or consume. So compounding interest could work for or against you depending on your economic savvy and your know how!

Money and material possessions are a part of this world consider this article I wrote for Allvoices on Positive Human Potential it has a very elementary introduction to the atom and the use of matter in this world. Consider also that the bible continually focuses more on the spiritual part of us then the physical when we are told in Matthew 6 not to worry, to give in secret, to store treasure in heaven not on earth, to fast and to pray.

If there is one thing I have learned from my christian experience; it is to pray and wait for God's timing not my own and all will be as God wills it...

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
