Church Salvation...

Belonging as a card carrying member of a Christian denomination, has nothing at all, to do with your salvation. Because "Denominational Divergence" is sin.

Allow me to reiterate that statement...

Belonging as a card carrying member of a Christian denomination, has nothing at all, to do with your salvation. Because "Denominational Divergence" is sin.

Jesus never commanded us to follow any man's teachings over the word of God...

In fact Jesus was against the organized religion of his time and so should we...

Consider; 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought. My brothers, some from Chloe's household have informed me that there are quarrels among you. What I mean is this: One of you says, "I follow Paul"; another, "I follow Apollos"; another, "I follow Cephas"; still another, "I follow Christ."

Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

Also consider;

"You may remember the story of how Satan and a demon of his were walking down the street, when they saw ahead of them a man stoop down and pick up something from the ground, look at it, and put it away in his pocket. The demon said to Satan, 'What did that man pick up?' 'He picked up a piece of the truth,' said Satan. 'That is a very bad business for you, then,' said his demon minion. 'Oh, not at all,' Satan replied, 'I am going to help him organize it.' says Satan 'We will use money as the lure and make it irresistible to the greedy, we will build a theocracy that will stand the test of time.'

Some would say but we need to be organized in order to defeat the Devil in the world. News flash, Jesus Christ already did that for us. All we need do is as believers is spread the gospel and allow others to know we are Christians by our love. Gathering is of course biblical and there is a good example in Acts as to how we should gather.

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Unity...

Is unity a pipe dream within the body of Christ?

Some say yes and some say no! What do you say? Have you ever thought about it?

Consider; Ephesians 4:1-6

As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

Have we lived worthy of the calling we have received?

Are we completely humble and gentle?

Have we been patient and bearing with one another in love?

Have we made every effort to keep the unity of the spirit through a bond of peace or is the body at war within itself?

"Denominational Divergence" is antithetical to scripture, yet it is the norm of the Christian existence upon this earth. How can this be tolerated?

Consider;

Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmm?

May...

Facts or Fiction...?

Facts are sometimes hard to take but these facts are far to penetrating to ignore I must share them here with all those who will listen and all those who will hear. One recent fact I heard in a sermon from a respected teacher named James A. McDonald of Walk in the Word was that 90% of Christians fail to share their faith with another through their whole lifetime. Man is this true, why do we fail to share the wonderful message of Jesus Christ to a dying world? Is it perhaps because those 90% of professing Christians are not really Christians at all?

Consider what Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-92) who was England's best-known preacher said about it and I quote in paraphrase:” If you consider yourself a Christian but do not have a burning desire to see another saved you are no Christian at all” this from a man who preached to 10,000 at a time before the invention of the microphone and the super church. Spurgeon’s humble beginnings were from a small Baptist church of 232 to a super church of almost 6,000 every sermon he gave and there are literally hundreds if not thousands focused on Jesus Christ he said “I take my text and make a beeline to the cross”. The incredible thing about Spurgeon is that he wrote a cache of information about Jesus and most if not all is still available from Pilgrim Publications the motto of his church was “We Preach Christ and Him Crucified”.

According to Darian Kovacs who while still in high School sparked a movement named canadafire to see Christian students be leaders and people of influence in their schools says 96% of Christians in communities have prayed at the Pole in a popular activity that started in Texas called “See You At The Pole” SYATP and is spreading throughout the whole world where local Christians are called to demonstrate their faith and pick a pole and pray for students, leaders and the school system. Of the 96% that participate only a dismal 4% continue to pray at the Pole or almost any activity after an event. In other words we lack commitment and follow through because we can’t do it on our own, we need the Holy Spirit. Christian people everywhere the fake it until you make it method doesn’t work long-term because God sees what we as human can’t see, YOUR BIG BLACK HEART.

Let me ask you this “professing attending church every Sunday Christian” if the world ended in the next 60 seconds would you go to heaven with the rest of the saints that have given and dedicated their lives to God as an acceptable sacrifice and proclaimed Jesus Christ in faith to unbelievers everywhere, or would Jesus say I never knew you? Want to be sure that he doesn’t say I never knew you? Then I challenge you to step up in faith and get involved, don’t believe what I’m saying is true, well before you discount what I’m saying as hyperbole ask your pastor what percentage of people in your church are actually serving you will probably hear 10% but more than likely that number is lower.

What if I challenged you all, too step up in faith and ask God what his purpose is for you; better yet dedicate the rest of your life to serving God TODAY! Would you?

Remember David after he had committed adultery and murder he turned from his sin by penning this little ditty Psalm 51. Go ahead click on it read it and make it your own turn from your wicked ways before its to late remember 60 seconds is not a long time at all which reminds me of a story I heard about Satan planning to take us all with him it went something like this;

Satan is in hell, planning how he will get all of mankind to participate in his rebellion against God and burn with him in eternity. He ponders what lie he will use to make that happen and since he is the Father of lies and has had a lot of time to think about it he knows that the lie must contain some truth.

Now as he ponders that thought along comes a devil of his congregation if you will and says “Lord of Hades and all that is evil I have a sure fire method to get a 3rd of the earths population to burn with us” Satan considers the devils proposal and finally says “alright what do you propose?” the devil then answers. “Well first of all, I will disguise myself as a mortal and go up to the earth. I will then tell them that there is no heaven and there is no hell. According to my data we will get a 3rd of the population down here with us”.

Satan thinks on this for awhile and as he is thinking a 2nd devil comes along who is much smarter and wickeder than the 1st devil. And he says “I have that first devils plan beat by millions and millions of souls” So Satan says “and what would you do that is so much better?” The 2nd devil replies “Well I also will disguise myself as a mortal and go to the earth and tell everyone there is a God and heaven and that there is a Satan and hell, according to my data we will get two thirds of the earths population to participate in our rebellion and burn with us”.

Satan likes these odds much better but ponders further wondering if there is yet another way to get them all...?

As Satan ponders the matter a 3rd devil much smarter than the other two and much wickeder yet by far, full of arrogance and deceit and all works of the flesh (Galatians 5) comes along and makes this proposal “I have those two other bozos plan beat by a Hades mile and can guarantee you the whole shooting match, the big enchilada, every single soul 100% the only thing I ask is to be chief torturer of the Pharisee’s and Sadducee’s. So what do you say chiefaroonie tickle yer fancy huh wanna here the plan huh wanna hear the plan?”

Satan says “go ahead slimy underling give me all the details of your plan to get hated mankind to burn with us. Especially since they don’t know that Jesus already defeated us at Calvary by dying on the cross He took all of mankind’s sin upon himself”. So the devil responded with this “I too would disguise myself as a mortal and I would tell the world that there is a Satan and there is a hell and that there is a God and there is a heaven and that the only way to heaven is through God’s son Jesus Christ, the only difference is that I would give them as much time to think about it as they like.

Bada bing, bada boom we get the whole population of the third rock from the sun burning with us for an eternity”. “Genius” says Satan “make it so and while your at it lets teach them to blaspheme God by programming it into their movies and their everyday talk just to make sure we add insult to injury!” We also must get them arguing by introducing hearsay into their Christian lives lets call it "Denominational Divergence".

The Way of the Master

According to Don Pickle of Avant Ministries a well known church planting missionary group with locations in the U.S.A. and Canada
the problem lies at the core of Christianity and the fact that we do not reach out in our neighbourhoods like we used to, we fail at the first level of mission work so we fail at the long-term. The facts are that almost every church despite the fact that it is more costly to send short-term missionaries are not supporting long-term missions of five or more years and are not recruiting from within or even adding new Christians daily as they did in the Acts church of the Bible.

Perhaps in the near future as has happened in Europe were it could be considered Christianity was brought to this continent we will need missionaries to visit us from Africa and beyond to re-establish Christ here as well. Or we could as professing Christians stand up and put the King of Kings back to His prominent position as God. Allow our schools to pray and to repeat the Lords prayer as we used to and allow for mission work in the school because we are true believers of Jesus Christ in this country, this continent and we must stand for something or fall for anything. What better way to stand, then on the Rock of Jesus Christ?

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Waiting on a Bus...

Today I was waiting on the bus going downtown and written in black marker on the window of the bus shack was "Satan the churches best friend"

I thought wow the core of that statement had a ring of truth to it. Satan has divided the christian community completely. I looked at the guy standing beside me and asked; do you believe that statement and he went on a tangent about Christianity that sounded well awful.

Some points he made during his verbosity...

  • It's 'big business'
  • It's all about money
  • Boards have replaced old fashioned values of helping ones neighbor
  • Church is just a place to pretend your righteous
  • It's not about God or meeting God
My youngest boy was with me and I put my hand over his head and asked the man whatever happened to the innocence of youth and our natural ability to love? Just like this little guy here he is so full of love and he is only five 'Big Dylan' who used to be 'Little Dylan' puts up his hand and says 'ya this many' I smiled.

The man then says what about when he becomes a teenager and starts doing bad stuff like all the other teenagers, were will his love be then? I countered with Sir where is your love, do you still have it? Have you nurtured it and allowed your love to grow?

Then the bus was sighted and we all proceeded to the stop with those last words echoing through eternity.

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Walking with God… Part Deux (2)

Before we get back to Saul lets take a look at the parallel sufferings of Job and Paul and how their suffering in and of itself may have strengthened them in their gift of faith in God the Father.

Job a man who had grown children, was very rich and was considered greatest of all the people of the East. He was a man who feared God and shunned evil.

Job 1:6 Satan, satan (sah-tahn) Strongs #7854: An opponent, the arch enemy of all that is good. Satan is a hater, a destroyer, an accuser, obstructer and adversary of God and all who would fear and obey Gods will.

Now the story of Job and Paul are both stories of real men in a real time, with real names, real feelings and the ability to think just like you and I. So if Satan felt compelled to bother them it was due to his wanting to stop what they were doing for God. That is why scripture continually tells us to count trials as honor in serving our God. Job had a fear of God that his sons may have sinned and cursed God in their hearts so he regularly offered intercessory prayer for them.

Satan came before God and God bragged about the righteousness of Job to Satan, (Job 1:8Then the LORD said to Satan, "Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil."). The response of Satan was to accuse Job saying “if God took away his hedge of protection from him Job would surely curse Him”. God then gives control (permission) of all Jobs possessions to Satan but he is not to harm Job physically. Now in perspective, the beauty of this passage and story is that not only did Job believe in God but God also believed in Job, isn’t that great, that God can believe in us as we do Him?

Job’s first response after losing all he had was not to question why but to accept it and to continue to praise God with this;

"Naked I came from my mother's womb,
and naked I will depart.
The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away;
may the name of the LORD be praised."

Satan is really peeved now and again asks God for permission this time to affect Jobs health and physical wellness. God allows this too. Now just as God himself in Jesus Christ choose Paul when we would not have, we must not try to put anthropomorphic thinking (human attributes unto God) as a rule. Rather we should take comfort in the fact that God calls and equips us and believes in us with the same measure we do Him.

Ask yourself this Christian, how would you have faired in Job’s position, would you have cursed God for losing all your wealth even your health if in the same position? Do you trust the relationship you have with the almighty to be one that is unbreakable by you or Him because of your belief and faith in the strength and love that bonds the relationship? Have you pursued God first, as it is written “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added unto you”? Back to 1Samuel 16:7 God does not see as we do his sight is deeper than surface as we are surface only. We cannot see the heart of any man except for our own hearts that is why scripture compels us to examine ourselves first.

God finally reveals himself as a whirlwind (Job 38:1-42:6) to Job and ends the argument of Job and his friends. God challenges Job to learn from his suffering as compared to the suffering we as humans think that we or others suffer due to something intrinsically wrong, that we must suffer penitently as opposed to educationally for furtherance of our minds, spirits and wisdom. God describes the greatness of the earth, the heavens and his awesome design of all creatures upon the earth. God then allows and challenges Job to directly question Him.

God further challenges Job by asking Job directly if he is the judge of God 40:8. We as humans feel that we must be judges and that is our original sin to judge. We judge God based on the actions of professing Christians, we judge God based on what he does or doesn’t do. We judge people based on their suffering thinking they must have done something wrong or are so full of sin to deserve their calamity or position in life. When if we do as Job did and spent the time of a trial holding fast to our innocence we would be justified and righteous for God believed that we are capable of such character.

However those who did not hold fast the confession of God were reprimanded and their fate put into the hands of the one who gave intercessory prayer from the beginning (Job 42:8-10). Job’s friends were ordered to humble themselves by giving a burnt offering and that Job the true servant of God would pray for them and forgiveness of their folly lest God deal with them according to their folly.

To Be Continued…Next Paul’s Thorn

Sunday Worship Service - Satan’s last Gasp…

This morning I felt led to a local Baptist Church to worship there so off I went Bible in hand prepared to hear the message. I had made some cards with the M.A.C. tag on them along with the url to this blog and decided to hand them out to anyone brave enough to say hi. The Pastors message was powerful, encouraging, inter-active and full of God’s wisdom. I felt encouraged by the folks I met and gave out my newly made card as a way of allowing them to get to know the spiritual me better by reading my blog. The hymns were great the service was great everything was excellent and right at the end this fella, who I guess owns the church or something gives me back my card.

I took the card back and said ok, no problem but he wanted to engage me as to the reasons he gave it back so I listened.

  • Reason #1 – I don’t know you but if you get to know me then you can give me your card.
  • Alrighty then, I tried to explain that the card was about a blog and a way for him to get to know me better if he had a mind to. I also asked him out to coffee which he quickly declined. So much for getting to know him better.
  • Reason #2 – I don’t want to know you because I think you’re here to change my church. Then he added I don’t know for sure but that’s what I think.
  • I said; “I’m just here to worship man and hear the message” I did pray before going in that God would reveal his people to me and that the message would penetrate my heart.
  • Reason #3 – I am overly protective of my church and who we let in the doors and then he asked if I understood.
  • I said; “No I don’t but I would like to hear more, I just don’t think this is the place, perhaps over coffee”. Again he declined my offer to have coffee together.

I believe that the Spirit world reflects what going on in the physical world and that he felt convicted by my presence (1Corinthians 3:1). I do believe that change is needed in the church today no matter what your denomination may be (consider where we would be without the reformer Martin Luther) or if you would like to explore this ministry called In His Heart it is very revealing and prophetic. Furthermore as a believer I should be welcome in any church that truly worships Jesus Christ. I would like to point out that I did feel welcome throughout my visit there by every person I met with the exclusion of that fella.

So if we are to live a biblical life, then we shouldn’t pick and choose what biblical points we are to follow but should follow them all. The Pastor pointed out, point blank that "we are the temple" not the church building but us as believers are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Should we not treat each other as such, even when we don’t know someone? A verse that pops to mind is from Jeremiah 7:4

“Do not trust in deceptive words and say, "This is the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD, the temple of the LORD!"

So that fella was trying to tell me that, the church building was the temple of the Lord and that he didn’t like me and he doesn’t want me in his church. Now that doesn’t sound very biblical to me. Now if I was stupid I could have become offended by this and stormed out of there never to return again.(Mark 9:42) But since I’m not stupid and trust in what God is leading me to. I must not be offended but rather choose to pray for my enemy, which is what this fella has more or less, chosen to become to me. This attitude is what is wrong with our middle and upper class churches today they are exclusive instead of inclusive. I went to another church in the poor part of town and not knowing a soul, got up and demonstrated my faith by singing for the whole congregation a song I had written that very day.

Now the thing is, that this guy must have meditated on what he was going to say to me the whole time and probably missed the whole message that was given. The Pastor did talk about someone who was uprooted from their church and had trouble fitting in somewhere else. His advice to him was to fit in or go somewhere else, I guess he thought that I was there to…, not fit in, because maybe my hair is too long, I didn’t have on a suit, or a tie. I just didn’t look like him. Meanwhile, I’m just trying to find somewhere to fit in, thats in my neighborhood, to worship corporately with people like me (100% to Gods word by the Spirit). Somewhere that follows all Gods precepts from the toughest to the easiest knowing that we can’t do it on our own we need God’s help and each other for sharpening.

I know that this might be a lot to ask for from a church body, but it I will not compromise just like the message that the Pastor gave today about marriage and being unequally yoked with unbelievers. I will leave the unbelievers behind me as I go. And just like that Pastor asked for forgiveness of our human nature within their church walls I will choose to forgive that man for his blatant insensitivity to me, a vessel and temple of the Holy Spirit. I am on a mission to find a church in my neighbourhood (middle class) that follows all Gods ways from the smallest to the biggest. So far no luck but I found several in the heart of our poorest area of town and go for refreshment when needed.

We are not here to judge, exclude, divide because without unity in our own camp, the enemy has us right were he wants us, DIVIDED.
