Jesus said in Matthew 25 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'You may notice that in that passage that Jesus said; 'For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'
Nowhere in that passage did he say you argued on behalf of your denomination and I counted it as righteousness to you as if you spoke for God. Words are cheap and action is beyond price for it demonstrates your righteousness to others and your ability to give freely the joy of the Spirit which is given to each and every believer that accepts Christ as Saviour. When we practice our God given love towards others, we demonstrate the one thing that all humanity searches for which is perfection in our emotional lives especially our ability to give and receive love.
Picture if you will, two (2), long distance runners that are complete opposites one practices his ability to run long distances; by extending his ability daily through his training until he can run the full 26 miles needed to complete the marathon. While the other runner practices by running five (5) miles everyday. Which one do you think has a better chance at winning the race? If we first accept the love and joy that God gives us freely then we should also give of the love freely to others. But therein is the problem for just like the runners we must first practice and train to demonstrate our God given love for each other.
Where is the training ground that we should practice our love for each other first?
- Is it in our homes?
- Is it in our circle of friends?
- is it at church?
- Is it at school?
- Is it at work?
May...
The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
