Family Conflict...

Conflict in families causes undue stress and mental hardship but it is all part and parcel of why we are here. We all love our families Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Wife, Husband, Children, Cousin, Auntie, Uncle, etc. Unfortunately our families sometimes have the ability to hurt us. But even if we are hurt do we ever really stop loving them because of the hurt? Or, do we try to convince ourselves that the person we withdraw our love from is not really a person because real people don't act like that? That is exactly what happens in a divorce.

Pain is part of love and so is selfishness...

Wait a minute fella, selfishness part of love, I don't think so buddy, selfishness has no place in love at all! Ah but it does, love is what we all search for, what ties humanity together and definitely what God is all about, because God is Love. We are born into our family and this is the place that we learn about love. We compete for our parents love with our siblings even if that competition is unconscious. Our parents give us love and this is all we know about it. Now what we've learn gets passed on from generation to generation.

So the way your great Grand Daddy loved your Grand Daddy is what you know about love because that's what your Dad and Mom know about it. We need love just like we need food. Imagine this scenario if you will; You are hungry and decide to go to a burger place for supper. Is your decision selfish? The burger place sells burgers for a profit. Is their decision to sell burgers at a profit selfish? The family down the street has no money for bikes but you do is that selfish to have bikes when others do not?

Consider;

Deuteronomy 7:9

Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands.

God keeps his covenant of love if we love him but the big enigma here is that if we profess love for God but show not that same love towards each other we are called liars by God.

Consider;

1John 4:7-21

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.

We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.

Blasphemy...

Today I stopped at the grocery store to grab a couple things for supper and proceeded to the quick check-out you know the one 12 items or less. In front of me was a young woman with two children a boy and a girl, the girl was around 4 and the boy had to be at least six.

The young boy was playing with his jet fighter toy and using some bag ties he picked up in produce to modify it. The young girl was reading a free grocery store magazine full of advertising, you know the kind full of movies and such. she comes across some ads for movies and proceeds to blaspheme God with the traditional OMG.

Her mother looks at her and scolds her but not in a mean way, it was very loving with a you should know better than that tone in her voice as she says her name out loud. The young girl say's sorry Mom I meant to say Oh my gosh.

It made my heart glad to have witnessed that and it hit me that blasphemy has become a common old hat everyday occurrence that children pick up on easily as part of speech. If we are parents and we follow the biblical proverb found in Proverbs 22:6 that say's;

Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Then we are surely doing what we should by training our children the way they should go and to look at their own wrongdoings and to be aware of what they say and how they say it.

To live a conscious life bereft of excuses.

May...

The Lord bless and keep you;
The Lord make His face shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The Lord lift up his countenance upon you,
And give you peace.
